"The Bird"

This is a bit about the "Team Shoestring racing" Bluebird Turbo Drag car, A Car which can manage a
1/4 Mile drag sprint in 15.2 Seconds at 0.8 bar Boost with 108,000 Miles on the Clock.

The start was a Bluebird Turbo for 200 Quid, we then stripped the interior out and removed over 79 KG of weight
Once it was a bit lighter, we needed a bit more power, this was to be had by adding a front mount intercooler
sourced from the scrap yard for £30, this was from a 1989 Toyota Supra 3l turbo, we also needed an exhaust
This was made from pipe purchased locally, and by using one silencer from a Skyline HKS Dual dragger exhaust
donated to us, we were going to fit both of the Dual dragger siliencers but it was extra weight and pointless.
Some decent fuel was sourced and the car was then set up for use, after hours and hours of toil and about £500
including buying the car it was ready to go, she realy flyes for a 1.8 turbo, we only run 0.8 bar boost as the
actuuator is weak and this is all it will hold, we are planning to shim out the acuator to get a bit more boost but
we may be pushing the standard ( OLD ) Turbo a bit.
